For 100 years, members of the military service have readied themselves at Ellington Air Field, poised to respond in service to their country from the sprawling complex tucked away in the Bay Area.
On May 20, the 111th Aero Squadron, which formed in 1917 and eventually would become the Texas Air National Guard operating out of Houston’s hometown air base, will be inducted into the Lone Star Flight Museum’s Texas Aviation Hall of Fame. The 111th operates under what is now known as the 147th Reconnaissance Wing.
