Mark Ammerman

Mr. Ammerman retired with 29 years at Scotiabank and serving as the Leader for the firm’s energy banking operations in the U.S., Latin America, Asia, Australia and UK/Europe. He also co-chaired the business operating committee overseeing the Bank’s global energy banking efforts. He joined the Bank of Nova Scotia in 1987 after training with another major energy bank and led Scotia’s Upstream oil and gas effort to U.S. and Canadian cross-border clients. He later transitioned to investment banking and led the Houston merger and acquisitions group as its Managing Director.

In 2002, Mr. Ammerman was promoted to Industry Head of Energy and tasked to lead Scotia’s overall energy business, which has grown significantly with the acquisitions of global M&A advisor Waterous, UBS’ north American commodity trading business, US equity firm Howard Weil, and subsequent international expansions outside North America. Scotia’s energy platform provides banking, investment banking, advisory, risk management and capital markets services to over 250 clients globally in the oil and gas producing sector, midstream, pipe and transportation, LNG, refining and petrochemicals, as well as oilfield services. Scotia’s Energy platform became the second largest business within the Bank’s Global Banking & Markets business unit.

Mr. Ammerman is a seasoned public speaker covering Oil and Banking markets with presentations to the German, Colombian, Mexican and Peruvian Governments, Herold’s Pacesetters Conferences, Hart’s Energy Capital Conferences, numerous Latin American and Asian energy conferences. He is also a frequent contributor to the Wall Street Journal. Educational background includes both Houston Baptist University, and the Ivey Leadership Program of Canada’s Western University.

In addition to the LSFM Board of Directors, Mr. Ammerman also serves as chair of the nominations and governance committee and is a member of executive committee.

Public service interests include several charitable and corporate Boards including; Arkansas State University, The Maguire Energy Institute of SMU, Investment Bank WoodRock&Co, and former Board roles with Houston Christian University, The KSBJ Educational Foundation and ministry to the homeless the Star of Hope. Mark and his wife, Lisa, have been married for 33 years and have three adult children two married with grandkids.

His hobbies include safaris, auto racing, motorcycling and public speaking on business issues.
