Wallace A. Scott

Wallace Scott established a number of world records in the field of soaring and was a pioneer of free distance, straight out flight.  He won the annual Barringer Trophy for the longest distance sailplane flight in the United States 20 times in a 25 year period. After being taught to fly by his brother in Ft. Stockton, Texas in 1943, Scott joined the Army Air Force and flew cargo planes in the U.S., Europe and India during World War II.  In 1961, Scott took his first glider flight and within months purchased his first sailplane. Scott eventually logged almost 7,000 hours and over 300,000 miles in gliders.
