William A. “Bill” Anders

Apollo Astronaut, CEO General Dynamics

William A. “Bill” Anders is known for his iconic “Earthrise” photo taken in 1968 during Apollo 8, the first manned mission to orbit the Moon. Anders, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, became an Air Force fighter pilot and nuclear engineer, where he worked with nuclear power reactors and shielding techniques.  After he left NASA, he served as a member of the National Aeronautics and Space Council, Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Ambassador to Norway. He later became Chairman and CEO of General Dynamics.
