Jet Setters Ball Presented by CenterPoint Energy Raises Nearly $670,000 and Honors Scott Rozzell with Lifetime Achievement Award

The Lone Star Flight Museum was transformed into a Roman celebration reminiscent of the Eternal City with beautiful floral displays, Italian music floating in the air, and living Roman statues setting the mood. The night was dedicated to honoring Scott Rozzell, Immediate Past Board Chairman of the museum with a Lifetime Achievement Award recognizing his decades of stewardship, leadership and longtime support of the museum. 

Event highlights include:

  • Raising nearly $670,000 to support the museum’s STEM-related programs, educational mission, exhibits and aircraft.
  • In addition to CenterPoint Energy, the gala was also graciously supported by Joan Skipper and Ed Peine, Bette and Ralph Thomas, Anthony W. Hall, Jr., Million Air, and many others.
  • Khambrel Marshall, a longtime friend of Rozzell and former KPRC Channel 2 Meteorologist and Houston Newsmakers host served as master of ceremonies.
  • Gala co-chairs Cheryl Boblitt King and Bill King, Penny and Dennis Murphree, Diane and Steve Biegel and the museum Board of Directors welcomed more than 400 guests and supporters.
  • City of Houston Mayor, the Honorable John Whitmire was in attendance and spoke of Scott’s dedication to the museum, his successful, trailblazing career and longstanding friendship they have had over the years. He commended the work of the museum staff and its impact in promoting STEM education and careers to Houston-area students.
  • A featured video highlighted Scott’s tenacious spirit, passion for flying and love of his family. The presentation concluded with a surprise video tribute from former Secretary of State, the Honorable James A. Baker III.
  • The big board, led by The Honorable Eric Andell, added to the Roman market atmosphere and auctioneer Tim Dietz with Johnny Bravo Entertainment added excitement with paddles up and a spirited bidding war for amazing travel and entertainment packages.
  • Gala attendees enjoyed Roman Market food stations by Churrascos, a delicious gelato station, and specialty cocktails. TBW Creatives produced spectacular décor and created an authentic European atmosphere.
  • The gala program paid homage to World War II veterans and recognized Houstonian Lt. William Bayer, a 99-year-old World War II veteran and aviator.
  • Topping off the night were exclusive tours inside amazing aircraft and space shuttle simulators, viewing STEM-based exhibits and a chance to “fly” Scott Rozzell’s Fairchild F-24 in flight simulators.
