Girls In Aviation STEM Flights
Explore a different aspect of flight fundamentals in each workshop by combining STEM theory with introductory piloting techniques through simulated flights.
Girls gain insight into how science, technology, engineering, and math power real-world aviation while building confidence and awareness of careers in aerospace, empowering the next generation of female pilots, engineers, and aviation leaders!

Grades 6-12/Ages 12-18
Register by selecting the following date(s):
Sat., May 16, 2026 - Preflight Inspection
Step into the role of a pilot and learn how every flight begins. Girls are introduced to the purpose and importance of a preflight inspection, discovering how pilots ensure an aircraft is safe, airworthy, and ready for takeoff.
Sat., May 30, 2026 - Fundamentals of Flight
What makes an airplane fly? Girls explore the core principles of lift, weight, thrust, and drag while building a foundational understanding of how aircraft move through the air.
Sat., June 13, 2026 - Straight and Level Flight
Sat., June 27, 2026 - Normal Turns
Learn how pilots smoothly and safely change direction in the sky. Girls are introduced to coordinated turns and how control inputs affect an aircraft’s movement during flight.
Sat., July 11, 2026 - Landings (Traffic Patterns)
Bring it all together with one of the most exciting parts of flying, landing. Girls learn how pilots follow traffic patterns and execute a safe, controlled approach back to the runway.
Sat., July 25, 2026 - Weight and Balance
Discover how proper loading impacts flight safety and performance. Girls explore how weight distribution affects an aircraft and why balance is critical before every flight.
Girls are encouraged to participate in all six lessons to build a comprehensive understanding of flight fundamentals and progressively develop their piloting knowledge and skills. Participants who attend all sessions will be recognized at the conclusion of the series with a special aviation-themed swag bag.
