For local recreational flyers to international commercial carrier pilots, the weather is a challenge, must be understood, and always respected. Learn how to be safe in severe weather, why weather patterns can affect flight dynamics, how different types of weather are formed and how it’s tracked to keep air travel moving. By knowing all the basics, you’ll be able to make your own forecast.

Requirements fulfilled: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 6, 7, 8, 9a, 10, 11. Note: Req. 9a & 10 cannot be fully completed on site. Scouts must record the weather for a week after the workshop using the instrument created in Req. 9a; and then must give a 5-minute talk to their troop on information covered in Req. 2 to complete Req. 10.
About Scout Badge Workshops:
- All supplies are provided at the workshop.
- All youth must be escorted to the classroom by an adult and signed in.
- Adults who wish to stay on site must purchase admission to tour the museum during the class time.
