Happy Pi Day!
This Spring Break, celebrate Pi Day with a day full of hands-on STEM activities, Plane of the Month Highlights, and a sweet treat while supplies last! Learn how math and science contribute to aviation.
Here’s a rundown of the day:
- 10:00 am – 5:00 pm: FREE Small Pies (while supplies last) – Be among our guests to enjoy a complimentary mini pie as we celebrate Pi Day.
- 10:00 am – 4:00 pm: Public Flight Bay Simulators – Take the captain’s seat and experience the adventure of flight on our state-of-the-art flight simulators.
- 10:30 am – 2:30 pm: Boy Scouts of America Chemistry Workshop – Explore chemistry concepts through engaging, hands-on experiments. Registration Required.
- 10:30 am – 2:30 pm: STEMonstration – Pi Day Challenge – Take on our Pie in the Sky target drop challenge and build a “Pi” plane to test its flight skills.
- 11:30 am – 12:30 pm: WINGS Speaker Series – Hear from Lieutenant Colonel Brittney R. Abuhamra Chief of Safety for the 147th Attack Wing and HQ Commander at Ellington Field, TX, as she shares insights and experiences from the world of flight.
- 12:30 pm – 1:00 pm: Plane of the Month Hangar Talk – Join our docents for an up-close look at the museum’s featured aircraft, the Yakovlev (Yak-52), and discover fascinating facts.
- 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm: Drone Demonstration – Watch drones in action and see how modern pilots take flight through cutting-edge technology.
- 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm: Show Me the Mooney – Step into the role of a pilot as you perform a pre-flight check on our Mooney Ovation airplane and enjoy an up-close look at a real aircraft.
