Black History Month Special Programming

  • The Life of Bessie Colemen
    Sat., Feb. 4 at 11:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.

    Learn about Texas Aviation Hall of Fame member and first African-American female to receive a pilots license.
  • Jesse Brown – WWII Corsair Pilot and Hero
    Sat., Feb. 11 at 11:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.

    The first African American aviator to complete the U.S. Navy’s basic flight training program and was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. LSFM Corsair cockpit will also be open from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. for guests to see inside.
  • Tuskegee Airmen Hangar Talk with WWII Veteran, Bob Wehnert
    Sat., Feb. 18 at 11:30 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.

    Learn more about the almost 1,000 African American pilots who gained the right to fly military aircraft during WWII.
