In recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, LSFM will present the story of the Aztec Eagles. During World War II, the 201st Mexican Fighter Squadron (nicknamed Aztec Eagles) of the Mexican Expeditionary Air Force trained in Texas and served with distinction alongside the U.S. Army Air Forces in the Philippines. To the present, they remain the only unit in Mexico’s military to serve outside it borders.
