George E. Haddaway

Founder of Flight Magazine, Aviation Humanitarian, Historian and Pilot

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, George E.  Haddaway was an aviation ambassador. Enamored by airplanes at an early age, Haddaway became a pilot in 1930 and published his first aviation magazine in 1934. Throughout his 40-year career as a publisher, he became friends with aviation legends across the globe and amassed a large collection of aviation memorabilia now housed in the Doolittle Library at the University of Texas at Dallas. He also formed Wings of Hope, a charity that provides light aircraft, pilots and equipment for humanitarian relief to people in remote locations around the world.
