During WWII, US bombers played a crucial role in winning the war in Europe and the Pacific. Their ability to deliver massive quantities of bombs with increasing accuracy, combined with the strategic bombing campaign, crippled the enemy’s war-making capacity and contributed to the Allied victory.
The bombers were used successfully in targeting enemy manufacturing, and for tactical support, assisting ground troops. Strategic bombing campaigns were also aimed to weaken enemy morale by targeting civilian infrastructure and causing widespread damage.
Curated from the Lone Star Flight Museum archives, Bombers of World War II is a collection of paintings by a variety of artists that depict aircraft bombers’ important role during WWII as well as notable bombers in “action” such as Memphis Belle, Doolittle Raiders, Hairless Joe and Yankee Doodle.

Admission to “Bombers of World War II” is included with a general admission ticket, members are always free!
