David Rose is a retired space industry engineer and manager whose career has spanned both NASA and commercial human spaceflight programs. A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, David worked as a flight operations instructor and project manager in the Space Shuttle and International Space Station programs. He completed his space industry career at Odyssey Space Research, supporting development of the Orion spacecraft for the NASA Artemis missions to the Moon.
David and his wife, Kelly, have lived in Houston nearly 40 years and have two adult children. David currently serves on the boards of two other nonprofits: Houston Area Women’s Center and Books Between Kids. He is also an active member of the UT-McDonald Observatory Board of Visitors.
Active in the Houston arts community, Kelly and David are trustees of Houston Grand Opera, and are also generous contributors to United Way, Houston Food Bank and several other organizations working to cure disease and assist people in need.
As both a private pilot and a space geek, David can be found looking “up” whenever unusual airplanes, eclipses, comets, orbiting satellites or other celestial events grace the skies overhead. He also enjoys cooking, skiing, music, wildlife photography, and travel.
